    Video – Beat The Heat

    0
By David Marlin on 10 August 2022 Videos

Dr David Marlin’s fast guide to help you beat the heat!

    1. Competition in the middle of the day is only safe if you have been working with your horse to acclimatise to the heat over several weeks! If you haven’t then don’t do it.
    2. Travel – do it very early to avoid the worse of the heat and any traffic hold-ups. Take LOTS of water for horses to drink and to put on them to cool them down
    3. Watch out for hard ground
    4. Your horse may be more comfortable outside in the shade as air movements make it cooler.

Reduce the risk and be prepared!
