On Monday, the DDM team headed down to Kent to meet our winner of the Christmas Cracker competition, Flo Burnop.
Flo and her Mum, Helen, were terrific hosts and introduced us to her two wonderful horses, Pizza and Will. Flo is 16 and has JUST finished her GCSEs, and the day we arrived to her was her first day of freedom from months of revision. Flo enjoys eventing both her horses and is hopefully heading to Bishop Burton for the BE International Youth Champs at the end of July, and she was keen to speak to David and glean any advice she could in her preparation for the big championships.
Flo is keeping her two horses brilliantly, they are in fantasticly health and as Flo follows a lot of David’s welfare and management advice, it was a pleasure to see it all working for Flo and her horses. Throughout the day David and Flo analysed and discussed their diet, pasture management, training programmes, Flo’s riding technique and general husbandry. The whole day was filmed and will be available for you all to watch and enjoy very soon.
We finished the day with a trip to Flo’s school, Mayfield School, where David gave a relaxed lecture to Flo’s fellow pupils and their parents. The Mayfield School and all their staff, pupils and parents were incredibly welcoming and posed some brilliant questions to David, who enjoyed answering them all.
