Boots are the most common piece of protective equipment we use on our horses, but unlike hats and body protectors for riders, there are no safety standards for horse boots.

There are so many different designs and materials how can you judge which boots are the best for your horse?

A boot with metal will 100% protect against a hind shoe strike, but will it alter the horses’ gait due to the increased weight? And is it likely to rub and cause soft tissue trauma?
A soft and light boot may prevent concussive damage, but fail to prevent a cut or penetration from a show and also increase the risk of overheating.
