Equine Obesity Epidemic Podcast by Dr Pat Harris

By Sarah O'Neill on 24 November 2020 News, Uncategorised

Horses being obese leads to many health issues (much like humans!).  You might find it surprising that nearly 30% of the equine population is said to be over-weight.  Obesity in the UK is one of the leading welfare concerns, so is your horse overweight?  Interestingly in a study discussed in this podcast Dr Harris found that a high percentage of competition horses taking part were over-weight!

Here is a very interesting Podcast produced by “Fresh Scoop” with Dr Patricia Harris, the Director of Science for Mars Horsecare UK ltd.  Dr Harris discusses how you can determine body condition, help your horse lose weight and prevent obesity.
