Do warm buckets freeze quicker than cold ones?

By David Marlin on 16 December 2022 Webinars

Does putting warm water in your horse’s water bucket or trough cause it to freeze quicker?

Dr David Marlin solves the question with science.

I’ve seen quite a few pieces of “advice” saying not to add warm water to drinking buckets as it will freeze quicker. This is based on the Mpemba effect. But it doesn’t apply to buckets of drinking water.
