Discussion – Could we offer our horses more social interaction and avoid stabling them ALONE?

This is an interesting study: as an industry we often follow tradition and do things because that is how we have always done them!  One area that seems to have remained the same in the UK is stable design - we tend to house our horses alone.

This means that our horses can often only see other horses when they look over their stable door or when they meet out in the paddock and even then many performance horses are kept with individual turnout to avoid injury.  So are we causing our horses stress?
