Badminton 2022 – Dressage score analysis (from Thursday and Friday)

    Thursday v Friday (1)
So a simple linear trend suggests scores improved over the Friday session. However, this effect is strongly influenced by the group of five GBR riders (GREEN ARROW) on their second horses (Nicola Wilson, William Fox-Pitt, Ros Canter, Oliver Townend and Pippa Funnell). If we remove those scores then the trend was similar to Thursday.

    Thursday v Friday (2)
If we look at the trends using a different type of analysis, we can see that the pattern of scoring followed a similar trend of Thursday and Friday, with a peak and a lull and a second peak, possibly due to judge fatigue or coffee breaks.

    Judges (3)
Average scores for all judges were lower on Friday compared with Thursday. In general, the scores for judges at H and C were more variable than the judge at B on Friday.
