Acoustic ears and ear bonnets – The test results will be released Thursday night.

Ear bonnets / acoustic ears tested by Dr David Marlin

    The Sound of Silence?
How much noise do ear bonnets/acoustic ears really block out? We tested a range.

Did you know that horses have more sensitive hearing than we do?

Did you know that horses can hear higher frequencies than we can?

Together this means there will often be sounds your horses can hear that you can’t.

In recent years fly bonnets have become popular and many of these go under the general description of “acoustic ears” and claim to be “noise cancelling” or “noise blocking”.

So whilst it might well help your horse stay more focussed and be less distracted if you used something that can block out sound, do the products really live up to their claims?

We purchased 12 different products which claim to reduce or block sound.

We tested them in the lab and then we gave them to some of our experienced Member testers who assessed them for quality and fit and stability during riding.

What’s the verdict? Which ones are a useful tool in the tack box and which ones are a waste of money?

Head over to the booking page to watch the testing video and book your seat!
